Quercus ilex rotundifolia
Pt: Azinheira, Es: Encina.
Quercus ilex rotundifolia has a range restricted to the western-most quadrant of the Mediterranean basin. There is evidence that the inhabitants of the southern Iberian Peninsula 9,000 years ago collected fruit (acorns) of this species, and used the flour in soups or breads.
